The Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP) is an exclusive opportunity available only to a select group of sophomore to senior undergraduate students at Shidler College of Business. Designed to help you gain a competitive edge in your career, STAP pairs you with top industry professionals who are ready to guide you through the next steps in your professional journey.
What is STAP?
STAP is an exclusive, student-centered mentorship program under the Shidler Alumni Association. We believe that the students are the head of the comet, driving forward their ambitions, while the mentors serve as the tail, providing guidance and support every step of the way. Our goal is to empower you to achieve your personal and professional goals by providing a nurturing environment where you can thrive.

- Insider Industry Insights: Gain access to exclusive events that offer a deep dive into the world of business. Past events have included behind-the-scenes visits, such as one at Hawaiian Airlines, that provided students with an in-depth look at the industry.
- Networking Opportunities: Build lasting relationships with fellow students and expand your network through exclusive mixers, tours, and events. You’ll have the chance to connect with like-minded peers who are driven to succeed.
What to Expect
STAP is a year-long program that runs throughout the academic year, offering a series of exclusive events, workshops, and meetings designed to help you grow both personally and professionally. Here’s what you can expect:
- Mentorship Meetings: Meet with your mentor at least three times throughout the program to discuss your goals, challenges, and progress.
- Workshops & Events: Participate in exclusive workshops and events that are tailored to your interests and career aspirations.
- Networking Events: Attend exclusive mixers and networking sessions that will help you build meaningful connections with both peers and professionals.
Who Should Apply?
STAP is open to sophomore to senior undergraduate students at Shidler College of Business. Preference will be given to students in the Direct Admit Program (DAP). We are looking for students who are eager to take their careers to the next level and are committed to making the most of this exclusive opportunity.

Applications for the 2025 cohort are now open! To apply, fill out the online application form. Please note that applications will close on September 25 at 11:59 PM, and only 14 students will be selected for this exclusive program.

Key Dates

- Workshops & Events: Scheduled periodically throughout the program year
Commitments
- Kickoff Event:
- Mandatory attendance at the Mentee Orientation & Kickoff Pau Hana on October 18, 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.
- Meetings:
- Meet with your mentor at least three times during the program.
- Workshops/Events:
- Attend one or two workshops or events with your mentor’s guidance.
- Graduation Banquet:
- Mandatory attendance at the Graduation Banquet on April 11, 2026.

Meet Your Mentors


Evan Leong
EMBA '05
Evan Leong is the CEO of Brain Gain Hawaii, specializing in executive recruitment, consulting, and coaching. He has over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, leadership development, and executive coaching. Evan is also a certified practitioner in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting and Imago, working closely with senior leaders to navigate their internal challenges and help them grow personally and professionally.
Evan is the co-founder of Bubble Tea Supply, an international distribution company he launched with his wife in 2001, helping to pioneer the bubble tea market in the USA. He is also the co-founder of Greater Good Radio, which started as Hawaii’s first business podcast and evolved into a Telly Award-winning television show and a bestselling book.
A proud alumnus of Punahou School and Hawaii Pacific University, Evan earned his Executive MBA from the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa. He has been recognized as the US SBA Small Business Journalist of the Year for Region 9 and was honored in Pacific Business News’ “Forty under 40” in 2006. Evan is an active board member for Kahi Mohala and the Shidler College of Business Alumni Association, where he co-chairs the undergraduate STAP mentorship program.


Jodi Hashimoto
EMBA '00
Introducing Jodi Hashimoto, EMBA '00, and Partner at SH Consulting LLC, as one of our incredible mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP)!
With over two decades of experience, Jodi brings expertise in healthcare performance improvement, corporate compliance, and system implementation. As a partner at SH Consulting, she is focused on helping organizations achieve operational excellence. Jodi has also served as past president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (Hawai‘i chapter), bringing a wealth of knowledge to her mentees.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Jodi earned her EMBA from the Shidler College of Business and holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkeley. She has been a dedicated member of the Shidler Alumni Association board since 2000.


John Doyle
EMBA '17
Introducing John Doyle, EMBA '17, and Senior Vice President of Cloud Operations & Security at Accelya Group, as one of our esteemed mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP)!
John Doyle is the director of information security at Array, a remote-first high growth fintech venture capital startup working to modernize digital banking offerings by democratizing access to credit and identity protection tools. Previously, he was a special advisor to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command J2 & J6 directors working to reduce cyber risks in the Asia-Pacific theater and also served as technical director for the Department of Defense. Prior to his career as a public servant in the federal government, Doyle led technology services and IT operations at Farelogix Inc., another venture capital startup in the travel industry with global operations spanning across 65 countries. He also worked for several of the leading defense contractors, including Referentia Systems Inc., an O‘ahu-based technology company, Northrop Grumman, SAIC and CSC.
He joined the Shidler Alumni Association board in 2017. Although he is a graduate of the DoDDS school system and grew up as a military brat in various locations across Korea, Japan and the U.S. mainland, he considers Hawai’i his home. He is an alumnus of the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa, where he earned his Executive Master of Business Administration degree and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He was also a Freeman Fellowship recipient.
Doyle is also an alumnus of the University of Miami, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science. Additionally, he is an alumnus of Columbia University, where he earned a certificate in business excellence from Columbia Business School in New York.


Toby Tamaye
BBA '95
We’re excited to introduce one of our mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP): Toby Tamaye, BBA '95, and President of AT Marketing LLC!
Toby is a powerhouse in the world of advertising, public relations, and event marketing. As the President of AT Marketing, a Hawai‘i-based firm, Toby has organized everything from business mixers to massive street block parties like the Waikiki SPAM JAM! With his deep experience in social media marketing and event development, he's one of the most influential travel consultants in Hawaii—and he's ready to mentor YOU!
Toby is also a proud alumnus of the Shidler College of Business and has been active in the Shidler Alumni Association since 2009.


Cory Nakamura
BBA '04
Say hello to Cory Nakamura, BBA '04, and Co-Founder/Managing Member at Mosaic Pacific Investment Advisors! Cory is one of our incredible mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP).
With extensive experience in financial planning and investment management, Cory is passionate about helping clients and small businesses develop strategies to grow and thrive. A Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Cory brings unparalleled expertise in wealth management, making him a key figure for any student looking to elevate their financial acumen and business strategy.
Cory has also served as the past president of the Shidler Alumni Association and remains active in his community, coaching paddling at ‘Iolani High School and Outrigger Canoe Club. This is your chance to learn from a seasoned professional who’s deeply invested in the local community and committed to helping others succeed!


Landon Beers
BBA '07
Introducing Landon Beers, BBA '07, and Managing Director at Deloitte & Touche LLP, as one of our incredible mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP)!
Beers joined the Shidler Alumni Association board in 2017. Born and raised in Honolulu, he graduated from Kaiser High School and then attended the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. While at Shidler, he was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, softball, attending sporting events and reading, as well as traveling with family and friends.


Kimmie Straube
EMBA '21
We’re thrilled to introduce Kimmie Straube, EMBA '21, and Director of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation/Chief, G9 at IMCOM-Pacific, as one of our mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP)!
Kimmie Straube is the chief, G9 – director of family and morale, welfare and recreation for the U.S. Army. Prior to her career in federal service, she worked for several property management companies and was an auditor at KPMG LLP.
Straube joined the Shidler Alumni Association board in 2021. Born and raised in Honolulu, she is a graduate of Punahou School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Southern California and is a certified public accountant. She earned her Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. She was a fellow of the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board Pacific Leadership Academy Program and continues to serve as a mentor to senior leaders.


Brett D’Amato

Introducing Brett D’Amato, BBA ‘19, and Organizational Development Administrator at Central Pacific Bank, as one of our incredible mentors for the Shidler Transformational Acceleration Program (STAP)!
As an Organizational Development Administrator at Central Pacific Bank, he specializes in guiding and empowering young professionals through their college internship & mentorship program. With a passion for leadership development, he focuses on equipping students and new graduates with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their careers to foster long-term success.
A proud alumnus of Mililani High School, Brett earned his Human Resource Management degree from the Shidler College of Business. During his time at UH, he served 2 years as the president for the Society of Human Resource Management Aloha Chapter. He gives credit to his mentors for helping shape his career and is ready to give back to the community!
